Graphics card problem?

Hi guys, I've had my gaming rig for a little over a year and am having many issues with my graphics card or what i believe to be is causing the issue.

I don't want to write an essay although I could quite easily so I'm just going to list the problems I have encountered below.

  • Computer doesn't read my GTX 550TI card and says (Intel HD graphics family) in dxdaig, used to say GTX 550TI.

  • Can't access NVIDIA control panel. It says 'You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU'

  • Every now and then my screen will completely freeze or will have millions of multicoloured lines and the sound goes strange which makes me think its not the graphics card? This can happen even if I'm just browsing.

  • 'Error: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered'

  • Error: DirectXfunction "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGIERRORDEVICE_HUNG:

Device hung due to badly formed commands.. GPU: "NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti" , Driver 31422

It sucks because I can't play any games, BF3 won't start or will crash, SWTOR starts but is soo laggy its unplayable. I can play BF2 but that isn't graphically intensive.

I have been told by friends that its eithier my graphics card or power supply, time to ask the experts!

Thanks to anyone who replies! I will really appreciate any help!

Check onboard GPU is disabled in bios although it should automatically do it.

You'll have to give details of your motherboard so people can asses what's going on. Do you have a BIOS mobo or UEFI? Try running Belarc and then you can give us details of your motherboard.

Don't link to an image for obvious reasons, just copy and paste the motherboard details and make sure no licence keys are added to the pasted information.

It looks as it has a Hybrid EFI technology with DualBIOS.

That leaves me out, sorry. Have not had the infuriating pleasure of handling hybrid bios let alone UEFI, although my better half has a laptop with UEFI.

I'm not allowed to play with it.

However my post has 'bumped' this up and will hopefully attract the eye of an EFI hybrid Bios person with a good idea of your problem. Sorry I can't help.
