go to the Office Tools folder from Windows' start menu and select 'Microsoft Office Language Settings', you can add/remove dictionaries there.

This solutions is not permanent I need a way of taking US dictionary off the computer so it is never there again. I have over the years removed the US from the current dialogue box. It always come back if there is a crash or some other misdemeanour!!! Thanks for your input.

I don't think that what you want to do is possible. However if English US is shown as an enabled language under MS Office Tools - Language Settings then remove it. I don't find that it comes back but then I rarely if ever suffer crashes of Word.
