My PC has ended up installing the same security update every time I shut it down. Every time I go to the control panel and open windows update the same security update sits there wanting me to install it. Every time I let it install it just reappears! How do I get round this?

Can you tell us what operating system you have and which security update is causing the problem?

My situation is exactly the same as "Throbber" in above reply. I am able to find a so called "fix" for it by downloading and running some repair program from microsoft but it ALWAYS comes back each time!!!!

It's recommended, not vital, so I'd stop it from downloading - you can 'hide' updates you don't want. Exactly how to do it depends on the OS.

in order to help you further, knowing which os you are using and which update is causing you problems would be valuable info as onthelimit1 says "depends on the os"

I have had the same problem with WinXP for a long time. A suggested cure was to remove (in Add/Remove Programs) many of the last NET updates. This seemed to work. Who needs NET anyway, what does it do?
