Green flashing lights and flashing E

All the green lights on my Epson Stylus Photo RC425 are flashing and an E appears in the box where the numbers to copy usually show. Have tried switching on and off. What is the problem?

First you could try removing power plug and then holding down printers on/off button for 20 secs to clear any residual memory. Have you just changed the ink cartridges? if so try re-seating them. Or it might be the waste ink pad 'thinks' it is full (it's on a counter and you need to reset that)

There is a link to download a service exe on thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?p=37354916

or you could try this SSC Service Utility that you can download from http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html that I found on fixyourownprinter.com/forums

If you do have to take out the waste ink felt pads that are 'full' and wash them out under tap, it is very very messy and then you have to reset the counter anyway.

Failing the above suggestions, it might be worth considering purchasing a new printer with a full warranty. Check cartridge prices before purchasing any printer. Repairs can become expensive on printers, and are usually not a good route to go on ordinary domestic home use machines.

If you do decide to open the printer, there are a number of quite good YouTube video's showing how.
