Do I need a firewall & anti virus for galaxy tablet

Hello I have just bought a galaxy tablet 7 inch need to know if I have to put anti virus & firewall on it just the same as my laptop.

I think what Fruit Bat /\0/\ meant was 'yes' :-) - and those are some apps you can (and probably should)install. While Android devices are theoretically less susceptible to malware and attack than PCs, they're becoming more so, because the sheer numbers of them are making them attractive as targets.

We have two same cheap tablets. I've put Avast on one of them and it doesn't seem to make any difference to the speed.
