Windows Mail - search in Deleted Items folder

I have pressed the cross to delete an item in Inbox. I now want to recover that message. What do I put in the Search box of the Deleted Items folder? I've so far tried date, sender and subject without any success.

With my mail system I just double click the deleted folder but the deleted folder is automatically emptied when I shut the program.

It might help if you said what program you use for mail.

I have just found the answer. In Deleted Items, select From, Subject or Received. Then enter the info in the search box.
