VGA to 3 RCA Component Cable // Sharp (older TV) // HP G60: not working

I recently purchased a VGA to 3 RCA Component Cable to connect my laptop to my television. I am only getting my background on black and white (on the TV) when other windows are open (on my laptop) and my background is shown three times across the television screen. I've tried pressing Fn with F4 (the icon) to no avail. I'd like to avoid making any more purchases (if i can) and was wondering if someone can help me with this issue!

Thank you in advance. I'll provide more information if asked / necessary.
