Trying to update BIOS but have no floppy

I have downloaded a BIOS update for my desktop computer but I am supposed to save the file to a floppy disk and then boot from it. My problem is that my computer has no floppy drive. I know I could burn the file to a CD and then boot from CD but how do I know if the files will will run from the CD when meant for a floppy? Wouldnt they need to be an ISO file? I am worried I could cause damage to the BIOS.

Any thoughts?

Do you really need the update? If not, don't try to install it.

Is there any instructions on how to install the updates from the site you downloaded the bios update? I assume it's from the manufacturer's site for your mobo?

The instructions assume I have a floppy drive. I have contacted customer support but it will be ages before they reply if at all because the machine is six years old.I woulfd like to get the job done sooner rasther than later.

You could buy a external floppy drive or will it run from a usb stick. To do a BIOS update from Floppy Disc etc you need more than the BIOS update. you should be able to download the Program that lets you update the BIOS from Same site as the BIOS and instructions on how to do it.

PS its not for the faint hearted, as you can kill your motherboard BIOS and then need a new motherboard if it all goes wrong

I dont know. I dont think so. The machine in question has Windows XP home Edition, it is Scaleo P. The Bios update is from Fujitsu Siemens.

What motherboard? What BIOS?

Board / BIOS manufactures may have a flash utility on their site

eg gigabite
