I use Windows XP. Can anyone tell me which of the following programmes are needed to run at Startup: SOUNDMAN, avgui, HDAudPropShortcut, ALCWZRD, ALCMTR, AdobeARM, qttask, ctfmon, and PCSuite?

Soundman - NOT needed - it is a frequency ear training software.

avgui - Part of AVG, so this is probably needed if you have AVG.

HDAudProp - Shortcut, not needed, to do with High Definition Audio.

ALCWZRD and ALCMTR - may well be Nasties - run a full Malware Scan soonest!

AdobeARM - to do with auto updating of Adobe, NOT needed at startup, as updating can be done manually.

qttask - this is to do with Quicktime Player, if you use Quicktime, this can stay.

ctfmon - is to do with OFFICE/WORD, leave this as is.

PCSuite - not needed on startup, used by Nokia Mobiles, but can be started manually if needed.

I just use CCleaner to turn everything off in the startup list except the antivirus. Never had a computer that misbehaved having done this.

I use a program called Starter, which works like Msconfig, but is easier to use.

I cannot see the version I use (now about 6 years old), however this one looks similar.

As always - Try at your own risk.
