Android on PC - how to access HDD

I have just installed Android 4 onto my old Samsung netbook - hoping it would be good for speedy web browing and sending emails. All went well and it is working fine allowing me to dual boot into Windows or XP.

While in Android I can insert an sd card so that is working.

I want to now access files ( music ) stored on the HDD but can't see any way to map it ( or even if it is possible ) I suspect there is no HDD access from within Android.

Does anyone have any suggestions please ?
