Changing the drive is a matters of a few crosshead screws. The problem then is the Operating System. Is the existing drive working? If so, it's possible to clone that drive to a new one in an external caddy. If it's not working, you'll have to get/ borrow a DVD of the same OS as is presently installed. You will also have to be able to read the activation code on the sticker underneath (sometimes this gets rubbed off, and that makes life very difficult).

Do you need advice on transferring existing operating system to a new hard drive? by either cloning or imaging or reinstalling from recovery or OS cd/dvd?

Or do you need advice on how to take the hard drive out and connect the cables to a new hard drive?

Or both of the above?

What programs, cd/dvds etc do you have at the moment in regard to doing any of the above?

Does your pc have a DVD-rw drive or do you have an external dvd writer drive?

Do you have an external usb Hard drive that you can use to store your personal files and Data on? And also to store an image file to restore to new hard drive or use as backup.

What are the sizes of the hard drives you have? (250GB, 500GB or ?) and how much ?GB data is on them?

What is your operating system? XP, Vista, W7 ?

Can you tell us why you are changing the hard drive? is there a problem with pc or are you just wanting a bigger hard drive?
