internet explorer 8 on windows xp home

Hi internet explorer 8 on windows xp home keep locking up tried running with out ad-ons but still the same in a long time minute or so some times it recovers but most of the time I have to use task manager to shut it down. resetting ie works for a bit

PS I have it running on several XP computers, is it pca that locks up if so its java script in the browser that needs disabling

Try moving the cursor to near the bottom right hand corner of the screen where it might be displaying a world symbol and the word 'Internet' inside a little rectangle. Then double-click. Reduce the slider which controls the security level. Things might speed up.
