Increase table outer border only Word 2007

I have a table in Word 2007,showing all the cells & outer border with a thin black line (Default). I am wanting to increase the outer border size only, leaving inner cells as they are, which I seem unable to do. If I increase the outer border line size,I loose the thin cell lines. There must be a way to do this, help please.
