I have just fitted to 1gb memory modules into my mother board. The system information reports the 2gb of memory as 1.99. The mother board has integrated graphics so would this account for it or is one of my memory modules faulty?

I would say it's nothing to worry about. If you're using an integrated video card with shared memory, the amount it uses won't be shown in the total. So it might be 2 gb minus 128mb or whatever it is. Long story short: there is absolutely nothing wrong with your memory.
