Open Office 3.4.1 clash with Windows 8

Does anyone know if Open Office clashes with Windows 8? I have had nothing but problems with it as it keeps freezing so wondered if it clashed.

I need to do University work and it will not save to a USB or another file on the other drive/partition. When trying to open the file I want to save in that file freezes and it is on another drive/partition. I really don't care for Win 8 but thought I should get used to it as it will be the only choice soon so I am guessing it is a conflict problem - I hope. All help/suggestions welcome. Maybe there is a better programme than Open Office, is there? Thanks in advance E.

You could try Libre Office, which was developed from Open Office and I have used it with Windows 8. If there are still problems there may be a different cause.
