I have a external HD that has stopped working, as in it wont let me in. It reports there is a fault with start up within the boot up of the 2TB HD.
Is there anyway I can retrieve the data within before re formatting.... please help.

Perhaps you may be lucky and check disk will cure it
open a command prompt see how here
at the c:\windows prompt type E: chkdsk /f /r
press enter
when check disk has finished seee if you can explore your drive.
