I have a 1 T hard drive with 3 x 300gig partitions of Win XP. I wish to put Linus on the remaining space but when installing the Linus it doesnt seem to see any of the partitions so I chicken out & dare not go on.How do I procede please & what partition software do you recommend...(freebee if possible).

Do you mean Linux? And which distribution are you trying to use?

Try using the alternate CD, which will give you manual control over the installation. You will then be able to select exactly where you want your installation to go.
It's most unusual for Ubuntu (or Linux in general) not to be able to see partitions.
