BIG PROBLEM. AM I IN BIG TROUBLE?
In dividing my new hard drive, given my rubbish maths, I have mis- calculated big time and now the C drive is only - 29 gigs. the next partition is about 100 gigs and the big one for my workstuff is 550 gigs. My BIG PROBLEM is now how to undo the C drive and take it back to the 129 gigs or to its full capacity of 750 gigs. Is that possible? I cannot find anywhere to set to factory defaults settings. It's a Windows 8 Toshiba Satellite C850D-12L Also how do i make recovery disks from this model. I think i don't like Win 8. I was using vista. I am on my old Vista now. Oh and by the way if i go into troubleshooting there is always an error of some sort. This laptop is only 24 hours old too. Many thanks for any help as i am going nuts now. E. Oh, just a thought - would it work to copy and paste the folders in the C drive to the other drive and then re-name them?

In your earlier post you said ". It wouldn't make a cd of the recovery but it did make a USB one." If you used a CD instead of a DVD then it won't be able to because of lack of space. It's a DVD disc, or discs, you need. Has it made a USB recovery to a USB flash drive? If so boot from that flash drive. You might need to go in to the bios to select USB as first boot options.
Confusing info from you at times, or I am slow on the uptake.. :)

I am sure you are not slow, it will be me. Yes it made a USB recovery on my 16 gig USB falsh drive. It is still working and is at 22%. How do i do what you suggest? Do i close the laptop down then restart or just plug the usb in? how do i go to the bios to change it? Sorry i am pretty useless i know.

So it's still creating a recovery folder on your drive? or is it trying to restore to factory settings via 8?

I'd leave it as is for a time. No point upsetting things now. You're hanging by a thread as it is I think. So long as it has created the recovery on your usb drive you have something to fall back on.

Oh god, that sounds ominous. what if the USB data doesn't work? I made recovery disks for this laptop when i bought it and now they won't work and this lappy is still having problems. I asked about them on here but they didn't get resolved. But it's still working so far. I bought this new laptop at John Lewwis as an X-display model so got a few quid off but i am thinking someone has messed it up before i got it. it's only at 23% now, oh boy. If it doesn't get resolved it's going back tomorrow and i will try to get this old one fixed up now i know the Kill switch isn't going to kill it.

I totally agree with rdave, leave it alone to do it's thing. Wait, leave it all night if hasn't finished when you want to go to bed.

Note: for others reading thread, the recovery discs in eysha1's post above refer to the Vista laptop and not the new Windows 8 laptop.
