i have the latest ipad with all updates, I have noticed the detail on the maps program is not as good as on googlemaps on the internet. at any given zoom on the ipad the amount of detail regarding place names is pretty poor compared to what is on googlemaps online. is there a way to improve the level of place name detail on the maps app on ipad?

thanks in advance for any help

You may not be aware but, with a recent iOS update, Apple replaced the built-in Google Maps app with their own Maps app. There were a lot of complaints about the new Maps, which included places missing or wrongly located.

You can't get an improved level of detail if it isn't in the maps in the first place. We just have to hope that Apple get this problem sorted sooner rather than later. Incidentally, iOS 6.1 was released within the last few days, but I don't know if this included an update of the Maps.

Are you using the built in Apple Maps app? This was very bad initially and is slowly improving. You can try Google Earth app or Google Maps app but the latter is optimised for the iPhone.
