Logitech Performance MX Mouse drag'n'drop

My Logitech Performance MX Mouse has suddenly started not to respond to drag'n'drop activity. The battery is fully charged, I have downloaded the latest driver, no new software installed, using Windows 7 - the cursor and left and right buttons scroll perfectly, and drag'n'drop works with the keyboard. However, drag'n'drop on the mouse results in random highlight, part movement and sometime erasure. Any guidance should be appeciated.
