WLM & Norton freezing up problem

Help please. WLM often freezes up when opened. I have to ctr alt del into task manager and stop WLM then restart the laptop. I can prevent this by disabling Norton email scanning but thats not really the answer. I tried Norton auto support, that produces two fix options but the problem just returns the next day, if that was anything to do with it anyway. Thanks
