Pop ups from various sources?

I am being plagued with pop-ups from ad.extendmedia.com, yieldmanager, xertive, 888, etc. My System Mechanic Professional, normally very good, doesn't detect it; Malware Bytes doesn't see it either. I have tried removing cookies but to no avail. Any suggestions, either as to where it came from or how to get rid. Some of the suggestions from Google look decidedly dodgy.

I find free program, SpywareBlaster from brightfort.com/spywareblaster blocks the majority (sites, cookies, active x, etc) and is free and.. just works :) You just have to manually update it now and then. It does not interfere with any other 'anti' software you have installed as it is a Blocker.
