TALKTALK connection problems

Keep loosing connection, this seems to be happening more regularly. Updated router software and made no difference, bought new netgear router just waiting for some info from them to be able to connect it.Latest error message says, ERROR 118(net:ERRCONNECTIONTIMED_OUT} the operation timed out. What does this mean and why does it happen ?.
