how to delete account in live mail

when I added a NOOK to my laptop and smartphone, my carrier (Charter) instructed me to change the server from POP to IMAP so I could get the same emails on all three devices. We could not change the account so added a new account as IMAP, same email address as the other. But the old account with the email address remains in the column on the left of the page, and when it sends/receives I get a warning box that the POP account could not be accessed. Of course not, it has been changed! But when I go to remove the account it says it will delete the email account which is the same name as the new one. I am afraid I will lose the new account and all the archived emails I moved to it. Suggestions?

Can you not click on it and press remove.
That's all you have to do in Windows live mail

It should only remove the one that you click on but maybe best waiting to see what others think.

Sorry never been in this position before I have transferred mail to other accounts and then closed the account and that has worked ok.
Best waiting for someone else to give you the information that you need.
