windows 8 desktop very slow why

Hi I have upgraded to windows 8 pro and the desktop run very slow as if you are on dialup not broadband at 18mb , lf you go stright to the seach in the beginning the it is fast any idea's.

Could be that you installed 8 and carried files and apps over from your old Windows installation. I had a few problems with this so did a clean install and then loaded my programs.

Like rdave13 I had to do the same.

Have you downloaded the latest Windows Updates or checked device manager for exclamation marks. Maybe tick compatibility mode under tools.Or download the latest java update.

You don't need to bother with Flash as Microsoft automatically updates it now.

Is it just your web browser that is slow or most things.

having been to 3 stores and played with w8 on their displays all of them had slow computers i was wondering if w8 is generally slow or just bad set up in stores.

I use W/8 with the shell start menu and find no problems with the speed.
