Firefox 18 How do I delete multiple bookmarks

Over time, the bookmarks list in Firefox has grown (a bit like Topsy!) How can I select several booksmarks and delete them at the same time? I'm using XP. I've tried using shift+click and ctrl+click to no avail

I actually found the answer in Firefox help. But thanks anyway
