OpenOffice font problem

I am using the free OpenOffice document writer, but I cannot change the font characteristics. I have set my Epson printer to "draft" but I think that OpenOffice takes over and ignores my own printer settings. It seems to go for the higher setting, resulting in a heavier print than sometimes I require.

(Epson Stylus Photo 830U)

Anyone with the same problem?

A document goes to your printer as data - the printer's settings take care of the print quality.

It's important to select the correct paper type. Lots of printers do this automatically, but yours doesn't doesn't. If you don't do this before printing the printer cannot make automatic adjustments to the ink coverage, and that can affect appearance.

Thank you for your reply. Prior to using OpenOffice with this printer, I was using MS Word, and I was able to use the "draft" mode. It is still also OK with "Notepad". I can't use my old MS Office Pro on this newer PC, hence opting for OPenOffice seemed a good choice. I have, over a long period, used many types of paper, including photo paper, in different sizes, quality and weights. And that's with all of the Epson's modes , "Draft", "Text", "Text & Image", "Photo", "Best Photo".
