A scanner problem, 2 different brands.

Hi Guys

A funny one this>>>

months ago, I bought a HP all in one, but the scanner would not work.

They sent me a re-conditioned replacement, same again, scanner no good.

I have been using second one (wireless)without scanner, and it does the job as I dont need to scan much.

But this week, I really want to scan some pics, so I borrowed my son's Canon MP 210, but like 2 machines before, I can copy/print, but cant scan.

The scanner window appears, but when I press scan, I get the message

"cant communicate with scanner, cable may be unplugged" but its not.

With it happening with 3 printers, surely its something to do my my pc??

Have you installed the scanner drivers on your PC? Example for Canon MP 210 here: (assuming W7 os)

Hi John

Thanks for that, I opened link, but at risk of sounding like an idiot, I could not zone in on Scanner driver got this MP210.

Pulling my hair out as have followed several tips on installing scanner drivers, but failing, I thought all would be on the installation CD.

Be grateful if you can solve, especially with a step x step, my O/S is XP

Sorted...just done a reformat and installed drivers, thanks to all
