Toshiba Satellite C855 boot problem!

Hi everyone, I bought a Toshiba Satellite C855 from Argos on the 29th of December, received it two days ago, and have had nothing but problems since! At first, it was just running slowly and freezing occasionally, but now when I boot up my laptop, it says:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings and then click next. 3. Click repair your computer.

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

File: \Boot\BCD Status: 0xc000000f Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

I've tried using a system recovery CD, being as my laptop did not come with a Window 7 installation disc, but I get a different error message when I try to use it:

Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer. If you continue to receive his error message, contact the manufacturer.

Status: 0xc00000e9 Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred.

Just wondered if there's anything anyone could suggest to resolve this error? Or if anyone has come across a similar situation before!

Thanks!

I would not be bothering to much to sort this as I would take it right back to Argos and either get a replacement or my money back.

But the second error seems to suggest that there is a problem with the optical drive.

Take it back.Simple.

  1. Take it back - it shouldn't be failing at two weeks old.

  2. Know anyone with a windows 7 dvd? or make a repair disk see here

Boot with the repair disk and let it fix your system

  1. if you get same error message then either a HDD failure or sata controller failure so back to 1. - take it back.

Could also try a remove /refit of the hard drive to remake the connections that may fix it if its just a bad connection.

I'd just take it back, let them worry about it!

Just a thought, did you get it in a sealed box? You might not be the first to experience its quirkiness!
