need a Suitable Replacement External Drive

I use a Western Digital TV Media Player to play music or video files which I have on my Laptops hard drive.I move them from the Laptop to a external drive which currently is a iomega 160 gb I think it is a Firewire model cannot locate paper work at present but do have it somewhere.Have had it for for quite a few years but starting to get some problems such as when I plug it into the laptop devise not recognised and when I connect it to the media player the message is no storage present.also when I click on my computer the drive is not listed. Can someone reccommend a suitable replacement hard drive does not need a lot of storage room 160gb would be adequate.I would need to be able to transfer from my laptop to it and then connect it by USB to my media player sounds simple I know. Will fiddle around with my old one because there are things I would not like to lose.

Agree, its now cheaper to get a bigger one than try and source a 160G
