I've just built a new pc specs 430w corsair builder series 80+ bronze intel core i53350p asrock H77-MPRO Radeon HD7870 500gb seagate 8gb corsair vengeance (which isn't on the motherboards QVL)

What happens is when I turn it on there is no display on my tv which is a LG42LD450. I'm using a HDMI lead and I've tried it from the HDMI slot on the graphics card and the motherboard but no display. I also have no audio connection from the front panel so I can't hear no beeps. Please help me as this is my first build and I don't know what to do. Any help appreciated

I do not know what you mean by two pin connection. Is this from the card? What make is your HD 7870?

I have just noticed that your CPU is the I5 3350p which means it does not have integrated graphics which means you have to use a graphics card.

OK I'll have to buy the motherboard speaker tomorrow. The 2 pin connection is part of the PSU its in the same bundle of cables as the 6 pin connector to power the graphics card.

Is this your GPU? If so it looks as though it needs two 6 pin connections. Also what make and wattage of power supply are you using. The power supply is a very important part of modern PC's and you should never buy a cheapo if you can help it.

Yeah that is it. Oh does it need two I thought you could put it into either or and it would work. When I turn it on the fan powers up as well. The power supply is a corsair builder series 430W 80+ Bronze

Oh dear, why on earth would you think that they would go to the bother of putting two connections on the graphics card if you only need one. But all is not lost, you will need to get yourself one of these and Maplin's do them PCI-E converter.

Your 430W PSU is just a little more than the minimum needed by your graphics card which is 400W but you really should have a 500W as a minimum as you have very little spare capacity.

When planning a build I spend weeks researching components, making sure that they will all work together but I must admit when I first started I did not and had many problems along the way. But I learnt and now check compatibility, power needs of the components, has the PSU got the connectors I need ETC ETC. So don't worry that things have not gone as smoothly as you would like you'll get there.

Scroll down to IBM Beep Codes and you will see that it is a video problem, in your case probably not getting enough power.

Codes.

I've bought the PCI-E converter online they didn't have it in the shop should be hear before 4:45, hopefully were near the end of this now. I found out the long beep followed by three short beeps is for the video card so I know whats wrong now.
