Thought video card had failed so got new one but pc not recognising card. How can i tell if pci express slot o.k.?

On boot pc does not find card but tries to install drivers for old card even though I have deleted card and drivers!!! New card is an Asus but not showing up anywhere. Was wondering if pci slot u/s

Try clearing the BIOS back to default settings. Open your PC, remove the CMOS battery for 2 minutes, and then put it back in.
