Can you help please. When I go to many web pages I find underlined words in text which pop up an advert how can I stop this. Using Windows 7 and IE 9

You need an add blocker or a new Host file.
Not many free add blockers for I/E.A new host file will work but to me at least it used to slow I/E down so much I moved to Firefox.
Using Firefox Adblock Plus is free to use.
