Hard Drive Configuration for DAW Workstation PC

I'm setting up a PC to use as a DAW workstation for home audio production to record demos and perhaps eventually final product. Is there any speed/efficiency advantage in having Windows & programs on a separate physical hard drive from the drive used to record/write/edit to compared to just having a separate partition on the same drive together? Obviously if there's hardly any difference I would prefer to spend less and only use one drive.

On a modern PC (unless you are using a SSD) you're unlikely to see any difference

but if using an older op system like XP with a small amount of memory (less than 2G) then yes you will see a difference.
