Laptop video through TV

I have a Sony Vaio laptop which is running windows 7, but when i connect the laptop to my Panasonic TV via a HDMI cable it will let you listen to music okay but when i try and watch something through the BBC player or Youtube etc it will let you watch it okay but no sound comes through the TV, anyone offer any help please?

Try right clicking on the volume icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your taskbar. Select "playback devices", highlight HDMI and set it as default.
