Dead PC - won't boot :-(

The electrician just did something that caused the PCs in the house to fall over. Most have come back, but my son's is as dead as a doornail - no sign of power to it. I'm guessing that there's nothing I can do as it's likely a power supply problem (or worse) - but I just thought I'd put out an urgent cry for help, just in case there's something simple/obvious that I'm overlooking, like a fuse... (Yes, I've tried different power cables and different sockets - still no joy).

Best of luck we hope it is painless.I would imagine your builder would reduce your bill accordingly.

Well, it was a blown power supply, as we suspected. Remarkably, the blown power supply also blew the three power leads I tried to get the PC going. Inevitably, as always with PCs, life got slightly more complicated... The guy replaced the PSU, but the machine still wouldn't boot. Turned out that one of the SATA cables had worked slightly loose and, as the PC is set up in a RAID configuration, apparently it won't boot if any of the disks seem to be missing.

Regarding SATA leads my old PC (7yrs) used to freeze every now and hen as a SATA lea to one of the drives loosen.

Cured the problem by using the leads that have a locking clip on them.
