LOSS OF SOUND - Windows 7

My Toshiba Equium laptop has lost sound - no problem with the speakers which test OK. I downloaded JYK Recorder software to transfer cassette tapes to MP3 which seems to have caused the problem. How can I resolve it? Haven't been able to find answers online.

Would a system restore to before you downloaded JYK Recorder software work.

It might - but I still need the device to install files.

b) I don't know if I have a back-up that I can restore to.

Uninstall JYK Recorder, reboot laptop, then download and use Audacity instead.
