Poor quality pictures set up correct ?

Hi Please can anyone one advise on the following.I have the usual combination,TV,Sky box and dvd and have them set up as follows.Sky box to TV via HDMI,dvd to TV via HDMI and Sky box to dvd via scart.If I watch Sky direct through the tv the picture is fine,likewise watching freeview through the dvd is a good picture,however when either watching Sky through the dvd either live or recorded the pictures aren't very good, clarity isn't very good and the colours are poor.I'm sure the set up is correct,does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to improve the pictures,thank you

link does not seem to work but if you go to www richer sounds select any tv at the bottom left of the page there is a connection wizard link.
