How to format a write protected HDD

I've got a samsung 1GB HDD which I need to format but when I try it says its write protected and won't allow it. I been into safe mode with CMD but its still the same. I deleted it as a volume and recreated it with no affect. Is there a way fo doing this?

BAsically I had to reset the read only flag on the volume. Very easy to do once you know how..
