DVD ripping speeds with different PC's

I am currently ripping my DVD collection to my hard drives so as to clear a bit of space in the living room.

I am using Aiseesoft Blu-Ray Ripper software which works really well and has no sound delay which i have experienced with many other ripping tools.

But i am a bit confused. I have a top spec Sony laptop which can rip a 1 1/2 hour DVD in about 50mins and I have a top spec desktop PC which although is generally a better spec it takes nearly twice as long?

They are both using GPU to help with ripping but the only difference is that the Laptop is running a Nvidia card and the PC an ATI card.

Does anybody have any tips on how to speed up the PC's ripping time?
