My computer has recently started to lock up when I try to start up the system. From just an occasional occurrence, it is now much worse. Everything locks up and I have to unplug the computer to try again. It can now take several attempts before I can get my system up and running. I fear that soon it will stop working altogether. When I have managed to get it working, everything is fine. I run Windows 7 32 bit on a Medion computer. Anyone offer any simple solution to a not very computer literate silver surfer?

Do you have, or could you borrow, a Windows 7 installation DVD? If so, a Repair from that disk may help.

System repair or last good configuration in safe mode.
sfc /scannow in command prompt.chkdsk and tick both boxes.
Check device manager to see if any yellow exclamation marks.Scan with malwarebytes.
Just some things to try.
