Laptop hanging on a screen....

my lap top is hanging on this screen when it boots....

HANGING SCREEN

any help would be great

Have you tried booting on your system disk, you might be able to do an in place system repair from the disk.

Not moving out of initial boot phase if still showing Intel Logo i.e. not getting as far as POST.

With mains and battery disconnected hold power button down for 30 secs

Then reconnect mains only and retry the boot.

Or try starting in safe mode and see if it works ok on that.

Graphicool1, it was purchased 2nd hand so it didnt come with a boot disk...

Jock1e i cant get to the post screen to implement the safemode boot...

Fruitbat i tried that after reading your post and still same problem..... :(

Ok try pulling the hard drive out and see if it will boot to an error message.

ok fruit bat i have got this now

PXE-E61: Media test faliure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

Good

its now getting past initial boot and because there is no hard drive is looking to boot from a network connection.

Refit the hard drive and retry the boot.

and guess what, same old problem....

im beginning to wonder is it the HDD???

Yes looks like the drive has failed and is pulling down the power supply and thus halting the boot.
