go to a folder on D drive. Firefox, win 7?

Changed in options to always ask.. ff doesn't ask and still goes to C.

Good - you finally got here

When you run a download you should get a prompt "You've chosen to open xxxxx" (whatever it is) and a Save File button. Pressing that will bring up another prompt window as shown here

Firefox downloads

It will say "Save in Downloads" at the top, but you change that to your required folder.

I'd run sfc/scannow in case something is corrupted.

Thanks rdave & sea urchin;

Scannow runs in seconds and finds nothing.

Tried to download again after changing download to: to desktop still wont do it. I am stumped!!!

Thanks FB , Ran sfc scannow it took around 20 min and found nothing. Tried another download still goes to C:.

Is your D:\ drive:

a partition on same hard drive as your C:\?

a separate internal hard drive?

a usb external hard drive?

After doing: Firefox | Tools | Options | General tab, Downloads section, and making your choice did you click on OK so your changes were saved?
