How to tell if Java installed

I have a new laptop which uses windows 7 home premium.I am not sure if Java is installed.How can I tell and where do I look.If it is not installed perhaps someone could send me a link to install it.

In Firefox browser under Tools - Plugins - should be listed. In Internet Explorer - Tools - Manage add-ons.

If NOT installed then click on Get Add-Ons under Tools

Probably it is already installed if so it should show in Control Panel or Add Remove.

You could also download it from here.

If using that download make sure you don't download the ask toolbar as well remember to untick it.
