Please can you tell me if I can run my Dell Latitude D620 laptop direct from the mains supply. Can I remove the battery as it keeps getting very hot, and do I have to change any settings. (can't sfford to buy a new battery just now. Plus I only use the laptop in the house.

Yes not a problem. Put the battery back in every month or so for a couple of hours to charge it up just in case you need to use it.
