Hi I am a fairly new Mac user so be gentle and not too technical please.

I have been doing ok until recently and now I am often having to Force Quit Mail to close down my iMac. I am on Lion. It doesn't happen every time and it isn't because mail is doing something at the time as I have done lots of trials and tests. There doesn't seem to be any reason or pattern to the problem. I have even rung the Mac helpline and they don't seem to know why. Any ideas please?
