Noisy laptop

I have a Dell studio laptop and recently it has developed a noise when it is on for about 20 minutes. I thought it was one of the fans but after removing them and testing them they are fine. The noise is coming from the hard drive so could this be fixed or will the hard drive need replaced?

Seems silly to say this, but a Disk Image, or something similar, would seem to be a good move.

Is the process difficult? could i not just copy all the data from the faulty hard drive onto an external hard drive and when i fit the new hard drive into the laptop copy it across.

No copying across doesn't work as you cannot copy / move active windows files without special software.

I use Acronis the program I showed you is free and kighly recommended but I haven't used it myself.

The process is easy but takes awhile, I back up overnight takes 3 hrs for approx 500G of data.

I can restore an Acronis image in approx 30 mins so it quicker than installing windows and all your programs + your machine is returned exactly to the state of the last backup.
