USB stick through the washer

A keyring with my usb sticks has been through the washer (thanks to my domestic goddess being so keen - I said "Oh Bother" but in anglo saxon !) - anyway I put them into a jar of dried rice to try get them back. How long do you think I should wait before I'm brave enough to see if I've lost everything, & has anyone else experience of this disaster ? or any other fix to the problem please?

I left a stick in trouser pocket when they were washed. I assumed it was ruined and got another. But, while I was waiting for some printing to finish, I tried it just out of curiosity and there was no problem at all and it is still in use! It had been in a drawer for two or three days.
