When I look at the Advanced Security settings under the Property for an excel spreadsheet containing confidential data ,WMPNetworkSVC has also got a READ access.

Is this by default & secure? or should I change it to remove the access?

I am on windows7.

Seems to be something to do with the entry in Libraries as far as I can make out. ClickHere although that's not about Excel files I think it's the same principal.

WMP is, I fairly sure, Windows Media Player and is building its library from W7 libraries. I don't know how this affects security though. I have some confidential files and I encrypt them using DocLock but there are other programs like Truecrypt that do a similar job.
