Tablet/Keyborad connectivity problem- Alph-Num keys stop

I use a USB Keyboard/case with my Generic tablet.

So it becomes a sort of 'Net Book

Whilst using it in this way the Alpha/Num keys stopped appearing on the screen and I had to disconnect the USB and complete the task with the touch screen 'Pokey board'

Later experimentation revealed that whilst the Alpha/Num keys appeared not to 'deliver' All the function keys 'F' Caps Lock Num lock and so forth worked

So where lies the problem Keyboard case or Tablet?
